Instinctive theories began in the 19th century and argued that motivation comes from innate biological program (Weiten 1989) and defines replete(predicate)s as patterns n behaviour that are unlearned, uniform in expressio n and universal in a species (p. 349). Weiner (1985) defines instincts as potentialities for follow up and are considered unlearned wants or urges which are built into the complex body part of the beingness (p.28). Freud (cited in Bindra & Stewart 1973), also adopted the instinctive theory.
